Our conversation today is about the challenges that veterans experience returning from combat and transitioning back to civilian life, and what the organization Disabled American Veterans does to support vets. The local Chapter 48 of DAV is establishing a Volunteer Transportation Network to get vets to their appointments. From 9:30am to 11am there will be an informal gathering for veterans, first responders, and their families and friends. There will be music, speakers, and organizations on site. Mountain Mike's is donating a portion of proceeds (eat in, take out, or delivery!) that day to Disabled American Veterans. The highly anticipated 11th Annual Windsor Chili Cook Off returns Saturday, September 7, calling on chili enthusiasts and culinary wizards alike to showcase their skills in a savory showdown. The Windsor Chili Cook-Off is an annual culinary event hosted by the Windsor Chamber of Commerce celebrating the rich tradition of chili making and community spirit.

A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit Food for Thought, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to thousands of people in Sonoma County who struggle with food insecurity and hunger.

A new event has been established called "Santa Rosa Open Studios" and will feature over 70 different artist studios within the city limits of Santa Rosa. Over two weekends, you can visit artist studios and see a wide variety of mediums, and see the art your neighbors are creating!
