Charley Crockett has carved out a singular place in modern country music by refusing to play by the rules. Fresh off the release of Age of the Ram, the final chapter of his Sagebrush Trilogy, Crockett arrives with a new batch of songs that paint a vivid picture of his journey from Texas dreamer, New York street singer, and twice-convicted felon to the belly of the country music beast.
This is Crockett’s vision of hard country music. Guitar and pedal steel are the rule on the album, often accompanied by piano, harmonica, and keys. Produced by Shooter Jennings, the record leans into hard country textures—guitar, pedal steel, harmonica, and the dusty atmosphere of an old western film. Crockett threads narrative tracks, character studies, and classic covers into a vivid frontier tale, punctuated by moments of introspection that reveal the man behind the myth.
