At Froggy 92.9, we are your connection to your favorite country stars.  Typically that means getting you tickets to their shows, telling you stories about their music or just playing their song on the radio.  But at Country Summer 2015, that meant bringing a little star power to a Get Well Card for one Froggy listener.

Whitney Conkright from Santa Rosa messaged the station that she couldn’t make it to Country Summer 2015 for the worst reason-  she had to have emergency surgery for cancer.  Her hope was that we could get something signed for her backstage so she could at least have something from the show.

The Froggy team sprung in to action, and with the help of many great artists and a few thousand fans, they surprised Whitney with this:

Whitney saw the video a few days after the show at home in bed, recovering from the successful surgery.  “I’m pretty sure I cried,” she said.  “I was so touched that Froggy cared about one of their listeners so much to take the time to plan and execute such an amazing feat. It’s not like y’all weren’t busy coordinating the concert and festival… it was just mind-blowing. Having the crowd cheer for me was incredible. The personalized messages were so heartfelt. The whole thing is still so special to me.”

While she enjoyed the video, she was even more ecstatic to be at Country Summer herself just one year later in 2016.  She found Dano in the crowd and snapped a picture.

Checking in with her in the Winter of 2019, she proudly declared, “I am still cancer-free! It’s not been an easy road, as the treatment for cancer can leaving lasting effects for years to come, but I feel strong and healthy most of the time.”

She continued, “I now live in Texas, but the company I work for is located in Santa Rosa, and all of my family is still there, so I visit occasionally. After everything I went through, I realized life is short and it’s important to focus on the things that make us happy and matter to us… so I sold my condo, moved to Texas, bought a ranch and I’m living my country girl dreams.”
