Family Fun Series at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts

Posted 4/20/2009 3:18:00 PM
This Friday, April 24th at 6:30pm is a great live production of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. I will be there as your host of this great show, part of the Family Fun Series.

This story from C. S. Lewis is one of my favorites! I read it over and over again as a child and have even picked it up again as an adult. The adventure and conflict in the story is wonderful for kids of all ages (and adults too)! Before Harry, Ron, and Hermione, there were Lucy, Edmund, Peter, and Susan.

I hope you will come out to see this show and bring the whole family. Live theater really changed my life as a young kid, and I hope you will inspire your family to be creative by bringing them to this show.

Embarassing moment at a stoplight

Posted 2/27/2009 9:13:00 AM
So the other day I was taking Mr. Cricket's car out for a spin. I had to pick up something for dinner, and I needed to get some pictures developed. I was headed home and listening to some tunes on his car stereo. Now Mr. Cricket's car stereo has seen better days. For the last month or so, the speakers seem to be playing a game of tag. For a minute or so when you first turn on the music, you will hear the sound from the front speakers, then it will fade to the back speakers, with no sound coming from the front speakers. It's rather annoying.

So here I am waiting at the stoplight, I have the window rolled down, and because the sound is now coming from the rear speakers, I have turned up the volume in order to properly jam to my music. All of ...

Josh Turner at Konocti

One of the main reasons I got into radio was to go to concerts. And it remains one of the best perks about the job. On February 7th I got to host Josh Turner at Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa. He has a great band with people from all over the country backing him up. His banjo player is extremely talented. And his wife Jennifer also goes on tour with the band: she sings backing vocals and plays the keyboards. I think if I were married to a rock star or country star, I would definitely want to go on tour. Girls are always throwing themselves at guys who can play and sing music. (My best friend in Seattle has been dating a singer for years now, and I don't know how she deals with that jealousy! I nearly want to punch women for looking at Mr. Cricket!)

Super Bowl Ads

Super Bowl 43 is on Sunday, and I have to admit, I am hoping that the Cardinals will win. It's awful, especially with the Steelers' biggest fan (Splash) right here in the Froggy Megaplex, but I can't help it. I root for the underdogs. I am sure there are some jokes about that's why I am a Cowboys fan, but as my husand Mr. Cricket would say, "Stick it."

I'll be headed to watch the game at a friend's house. I am bringing a meat and cheese plate, but I think I will also bring some mini pigs-in-a-blanket. I made them for me and Mr. Cricket the other day and they were totally fun to eat. I might mix it up a bit by using gourmet sausages and brushing the crescent rolls with a flavored butter... we'll see.

Anyway, what I am really trying to get to, the ...

Scooty Lives!

Posted 1/20/2009 12:00:00 AM
As you have heard on air and mentioned in my bio, I own a great scooter which I purchased from Thin Katie last spring. His name is Scooty, and he is fuel efficient and fun to ride. The winter months up until recently have been rather chilly, and I was not riding my scooter regularly. Being a new scooter owner, I did not realize that you have to keep the battery maintained, because these little batteries lose juice quickly. Well, poor Scooty gave up on me. So I finally made it to the scooter store, picked up a new battery and this great device called a Battery Tender. I read my owners manual, and figured out how to remove the old battery and install the new one.
