CMTOn Thursday’s new episode of Nashville on CMT, in spite of their awkwardness and apprehension, Deacon Claybourne and Jessie Caine continue to pursue their new romance — though not without some hiccups.

Deacon’s stepdaughter Daphne Conrad is none too happy to discover the couple having coffee at one of her favorite haunts. Though Daphne insists she honestly wants Deacon to find happiness, her sister Maddie Jaymes finds her in tears, again voicing her dislike for Jessie.

Meanwhile, Maddie grows closer to pop star Jonah Ford, recording a song with him and hanging out with his entourage. A run-in with the paparazzi, however, has her re-thinking whether she’s ready to have a part of her personal life again play out in the media.

Juliette Barnes continues to be drawn in by Darius Enright, though Avery Barkley is not having it, even after meeting with the self-help guru himself. While Avery tries to remain supportive yet protective of Juliette, Darius’s control over the troubled star only seems to grow.

Both Will Lexington’s health and his emotions are at a crossroads, as his ex, Zach Welles, decides to return to California to run for office. Will tries once more to get through to Zach, but Zach’s current boyfriend gets in the way. Will throws himself into his workout routine to try to cope, but both his doctor and roommate Gunnar Scott discover he’s been taking human growth hormone and steroids to increase his gains — and Will is starting to notice some unwelcome side effects.
